Rushaga Gorilla Camp
$120-$250 per night

Overview
Rushaga Gorilla Camp provides a genuine tented safari experience in one of Bwindi's most productive gorilla trekking sectors. The camp is set on a hillside above the Rushaga area, surrounded by cultivated terraces and forest edge, with views stretching across the valley to the forested ridges of the national park.
Accommodation consists of spacious safari tents mounted on raised wooden platforms, each with comfortable beds, en-suite bathroom with hot bucket shower, and a private veranda. The central mess tent serves as dining room, bar and lounge, with a campfire area outside where guests gather in the evenings to share their trekking stories.
The Rushaga sector is home to several habituated gorilla families, including some of the more recently habituated groups that offer a particularly authentic trekking experience. The camp staff are experienced in the area and can arrange all activities including gorilla trekking, the Batwa trail, birding walks and community visits.
The Rushaga sector holds the highest concentration of habituated gorilla families within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's most significant mountain gorilla destinations. The presence of multiple family groups in the same sector significantly increases the likelihood of a successful trek, and makes Rushaga the sector of choice for travellers focused on gorilla encounters above all else.

Planning Your Trek
Staying at Rushaga Gorilla Camp puts you close to the Rushaga sector trailhead — the briefing starts at 7:30 a.m.
A gorilla trekking permit costs $800 per person and is booked separately through the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) — not included in your lodge rate. $10 from each permit goes directly to local communities surrounding Bwindi, linking conservation with the livelihoods of the people who live alongside the gorillas.
