Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge
$500-$900 per night (full board)

Overview
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge occupies a dramatic position on Nteko Ridge above the Nkuringo sector, with panoramic views stretching across the Bwindi forest canopy to the chain of Virunga volcanoes and the vast Albertine Rift Valley. Built nearly two decades ago specifically for habitat protection and community conservation, the lodge remains one of the most visually spectacular properties in all of East Africa.
Six one-bedroom stone cottages and two two-bedroom family cottages are individually designed with spacious living areas warmed by wood-burning fireplaces. Each is decorated with works by local artists and furnished with deep plush sofas, en-suite bathrooms with bathtub and rain shower, underfloor heating and panoramic windows. The main lodge chalet features five fireplaces, an elegant dining room, bar and a wraparound terrace. An organic kitchen garden allows guests to pick their own greens, and a massage spa set in a traditional wattle hut overlooks the forest.
Operated by Wild Places Africa in partnership with the Nkuringo Community Conservation and Development Foundation, the lodge provides direct access to the Nkuringo gorilla family — whose trailhead sits just outside the property — as well as seven additional habituated families at nearby Rushaga via a short transfer.
